How To Create Ebay Listings That Sell by Chris Haycock

•August 25, 2007 • Leave a Comment

If you want to sell anything successfully on eBay you need to know the ins and outs of writing a good listing that will get people buying from you. This is not that difficult once you know how. The same principles can also be applied to website sales copy, so we are killing two birds with one stone.

Firstly we want to establish our product as unique (or as unique as possible). Now could we do this with a DVD? Hardly. However with an African Mask for example though it would be relatively easy to stand out from the crowd.

Create a story to go along with your product. I find quite often when I’m buying from eBay, if it’s from a personal seller and not from a store, and the item isn’t new, I think “why are they selling it?” Make sure you answer that question.

Write a killer headline, five times as many people read the headline as the body copy. You have to grab their attention, aviod headlines which merely create curiosity, we want the visitor to read on. Don’t talk about the features of your product in your headline, talk about it’s benefits. You want to generate excitement in the reader. If you can, try and work out a way that your product could solve a problem that your reader might have. Remember, a good headline usually answers the question “what’s in it for me?”

Describe your item in detail. Don’t leave anything out. You should aim to answer every single question possible bidders may have about your product.

Create urgency in your listing. If people get the idea that they can come back and bid a few days later the chances are they won’t come back, and you will lose them. Give them a reason to take immediate action, once they have made a bid they won’t want to lose the item. If it’s a one off, or hard to come by product make sure you emphasise that fact. Rarity and/or urgency can get people bidding like crazy.

Detail your terms and conditions. This is important, leave these out of your listings and you are asking for trouble. You’ll get disputes, returns, and misunderstandings aplenty. Don’t think that people will automatically read your payment and shipping details. However if you have put them in there, together with any special conditions if you have any, you will save yourself a lot of hassle.

Do include a strong guarantee. You can say something like “If you aren’t satisfied with your purchase you can have a full, no questions asked, refund”. This will not only reassure your visitors that your product is of good quality and worth bidding for, but will also set you apart from the majority of your competitors, who do not offer such a guarantee.

Ask for the sale. It’s common sense, but you’d be surprised how many people completely miss this one. You need to ask people to take action. Tell them to place a bid today to avoid missing out, or something similar. It’s a simple thing to do, but miss this one out and you are losing potential bidders.

Writing a killer eBay listing is not difficult in itself, it can actually be an enjoyable task, especially when you think of the rewards. Most people will just shove up a product, price it, and trust to luck. By following the steps above you will be able to distinguish yourself from other listings and really stand out. Try it today, and watch your profits soar.

Confidence Through Neuro-linguistic Programming And Self-hypnosis by Alan B. Densky

•August 25, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Self confidence is an emotional and mental state of mind which responds to our need for self-acceptance and recognition. It’s among the oldest and most studied concepts in psychology. It is used to describe a good albeit adequate perception of oneself and one’s abilities. Hence, self-confident persons generally have a better knowledge of what they are able to achieve and are more likely to be successful in what they attempt. They are also more likely to accept and learn from their mistakes.

Contrarily, a lack of confidence may deter you from trusting that your actions or decisions will ultimately turn out the way you had planned. It can thus hamper the buildup of executive skills, planning and managerial abilities all of which are basic and mandatory skills in today’s business world. The pre-occupation with other people’s judgment of your work might also cause you to become too self-critical, which will distract you from things you would have otherwise been totally able to do.

Low self confidence will also have an impact your social life, because people with a low level of self confidence tend to stay in their “comfort zone” and dread the risk of rejection. This is called social phobia and presents a high level of co-morbidity with low self confidence, but also other mental conditions such as depression. People with low self confidence are afraid of being judged by their peers and will avoid talking to new people, which can result in isolation and even lower self confidence. Low self confidence is a vicious circle that is hard to break.

On the other hand, because they believe in their own aptitudes, self-confident persons are able to do what they feel is right and don’t expect the approval of their peers. They also trigger confidence: your boss, employees, customers, friends or relatives are more likely to trust you or what you are telling them when you appear self-confident.

Different experiences can contribute to low self confidence. New research indicates that parenting style has a major impact on the development of the self confidence of children. Bodily and emotional abuses during childhood are for example the worse for a person’s self confidence, as well as divorce and family conflicts. Overprotective parents may also be a reason for a child’s social phobia and hamper the independence that is necessary to develop self confidence. Successes and failures, for example at school or in one’s professional life, also play a significant role: losing a job or failing a class are among the several experiences that will have a negative impact your self confidence.

There are nonetheless methods to overcome such bad experiences and gain self confidence. The first step to build self confidence would be to learn to know who you are and what your strengths are. Recognizing that you are allowed not to be perfect and cannot be the best in all that you do will help you gain self confidence. Accepting yourself as you are is the key to building self confidence. But improving self confidence also requires that you start taking risks and giving yourself credit for your accomplishments. This is very simple advice which will help you develop self confidence. You may also find many books which will claim they can help you gain self confidence, however not all of them are reliable.

A lot people suffer from low self confidence or are only able to gain self confidence in one or a few areas of their lives because they constantly look for other people’s approval and are afraid that they could fail. A lot of factors, like childhood traumas, can explain why some people cannot enjoy the wholesome life a self confident individual could have. These persons also do not always know how to gain self confidence. However gaining self confidence can now readily and effectively be done with hypnosis and NLP.

As we have seen before low self confidence and social phobia can be caused by bad experiences or unconscious fears which are sometimes hard to overcome with self persuasion only. Confidence hypnosis and NLP on the contrary are able to get to the unconscious part of our brain and change belief systems to boost self confidence. They are effective tools that will help you face your fears and believe in yourself to develop self confidence.

Hypnosis for building confidence has been in use for a few decades and has shown significant results in building self confidence. In a hypnotic state, reaching unconscious thoughts is a lot easier and, through hypnotic suggestion, it is possible to replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones to boost self-confidence.

2007 Website Awards – What Is The Best Web-Site? by Sam Miller

•August 25, 2007 • Leave a Comment

In the 2007 website awards ceremonies it is hard to say who might take the award for best website or any other category. The idea of conducting website awards ceremonies and giving out awards to websites around the web seems a bit strange as there are very few established industrial standards on the Internet. There are websites however, who distribute and create website awards for the purpose of creating publicity and improving public relations between the website and the public at large.

The specific target of all this public relations effort in the facilitation of website awards is for the benefit of the consumer at large, since the consumer is of course the target of all advertising and marketing efforts. By creating this buzz and fanfare around website awards, website promoters can increase their exposure and profile to Web surfers and Internet inhabitants. Webmasters rely on these awards ceremonies to boost their visibility on the Internet and increase traffic to their websites, which is the all-important lifeblood of the commercial Web site. By utilizing these website awards and other gimmicks and techniques webmasters can increase pay and converting traffic to their websites.

These tactics are very cost effective and require only a little bit of time and some programming knowledge on the part of the webmaster. The recipients of these website awards are generally chosen at random, or by the amount of traffic in their chosen genre or web topic niche and generally have little to do with quality or quantity of available content. While the concept of website awards is no worse than many of the tactics that are used on the Internet as well as an off-line traditional marketing and advertising, it does seem somewhat banal, considering that any traffic that reaches the website where the award is displayed has to be aware of the website to arrive there in the first place. In the matter of attracting returning traffic, it might be somewhat more effective, but it doesn’t seem to be any spectacular motivating factor in websurfers decisions to return or not return to specific websites.

While the concept of website awards is likely no different than the general concept behind Academy Awards and other types of awards programs that are created simply to boost ratings and garner interest. In existing programming it is considered a highly effective method of advertising with a high return on investment for the marketing team. Creating website awards is a simple task of utilizing a few clicks and a software program to create some simple graphics and text to impress viewers.

While there are some legitimate website awards categories, they are generally just as skewed as any other survey or website awards program. The biased nature of these types of programs has a lot to do with the specialization of the webmasters and presenters involved in the website awards program. These programs are a lot more accurate when they are industry-specific. You will have a lot of additional traffic if reviewed and awarded at industry specific web-site.

MY LIFE IS MY BUSINESS by Lisa Di Clemente

•August 25, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Recently I developed my own E-Zine, which is like an on-line newsletter for those of you that don’t know. (I personally prefer the word “newsletter” but don’t tell anyone, or I won’t be hip) I write short stories and quips, I tell people about my homeschooling experiences, I advertise for friends of mine…its very quaint at this point, but I am enjoying it. Anyway, after I sent out the first issue, my girlfriend e-mailed me and she said it was very nice, but she wondered if this was a newsletter to promote my business or to update friends about my life in general. I had to think about it. After all, the original intent of the newsletter (e-zine) was to promote my business, but it was definitely developing into something else. I thought my answer to her was very astute, I told her “I guess my life is my business.”

Now don’t be confused. I did not say, “my business is my life”, I said “my life is my business”, there is a very big difference. Anyone reading this probably knows, you cannot be all business all the time…we all know people who take their jobs and careers way too seriously. Its tough to maintain a marriage to someone like that, or be their friend, or their son or daughter. To misquote a famous movie, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” Am I right?

If any of you have studied or read about Feng Shui, you probably know that our lives have seven “categories” so to speak…those seven areas are what balance us as human beings on this planet. Those areas are family, career, health/wealth, Spirituality, creativity, helpful people and relationships (marriage). When we give equal energy to all of these areas then we are in perfect balance and our lives run smoothly. (ok Lisa, come back to reality!)

When I think about the life I have chosen, I see that it includes so much more than my work at home projects. I actually see my family unit as a tiny solar system, we sort of revolve around each other and help each other in passing, some days are about school, some days are about family, some days are work, some days are a mish mash of events. I honor my kids, but I do not spoil them. They learn from our experiences and our struggles…I have taught them about being responsible for their actions, about money, about love, healing, having fun and working hard. I teach them something that no one ever taught me…to be self-confident.

Another thing I am implementing into my life is to lean on my friends and family on occasion. Helpful People are very important in our lives. It has been said that the thing you truly want is only 2 phone calls away, and when you have helpful people in your life that is certainly true. Its really cool to get to know your grocery store clerk, the mailman, a new neighbor, or your bank teller. For YEARS I was terrified to meet new people, and I don’t know why I was like that. Now, I try to make eye contact and conversation everywhere I go. Its fun, and I have so many more friends now than I ever did.

Creativity…Ahhh, yes. What is your passion? What was the thing you LOVED to do as a kid? If you had time today, would you still do it? Paint? Draw? Play baseball? Skateboard? Tell jokes? Have you tucked away the child in you, or have you forgotten how to be playful? This is VERY common, we either forget about our creative side, or we overindulge…you must find BALANCE. Personally, I love being on stage. I was an actress as a younger woman, and today I have no time to put into stagework but I find ways to express myself by singing karaoke and telling stories and writing. I do dream about it. It is my intention to someday get back to the stage and I fully believe it will happen.

Surely I will be able to sew this story up, are you wondering what the moral will be? Well, let’s get back to the title, and maybe you will follow. “My Life is My Business”. Can you see how important it is to honor every part of your life, not just the money part, or the working part, or the paying bills part? OF COURSE these things are important and need to be addressed, but you will NEVER accomplish your wealth goals, if you ignore the rest of your life. Look all around you. Give importance to each section of your life. Give hugs. Tell jokes. Take a walk. Eat an orange. Laugh. Send flowers. Tell a kid how important he/she is to you.

Your LIFE is your BUSINESS.

A Few Simple Ways To Promote A Website by Smith, Jay

•August 25, 2007 • Leave a Comment

When you are marketing your website, you have several choices. You can rely solely on the internet, or you can us a combination of online and offline promotion. Naturally, advertising online guides internet users to your site and they can easily browse the information, products or services that you have to offer. An offline approach, though, can also increase your traffic, particularly if you are targeting specific individuals or audiences. There are many different ways to promote your site. You can try one or two, or you may want to try them all.

Banner Advertising A banner ad provides an enticing visual for the internet surfer which encourages them to click through to your site. Create your banner and distribute to a specific audience so that you can receive relevant traffic to your site. There are banner exchange programs that are quite effective, or you may trade links with another site that contains similar subject matter.

Get Your Name out There Your website address should be on everything that you send out or hand out. Your email signature, letterhead, business cards, brochures and flyers should all have your web address. This increases your level of exposure and ignites a curiosity in people, leading them to visit your site. It is also a regular reminder for your site.

Online Contests Many times, you can draw visitors to your site by running a sweepstakes or contest. Your visitors subscribe to an e-newsletter, complete a survey, fill out a questionnaire or register on your site to receive their free gift. You can offer something from your inventory, a gift certificate or an ecourse as the prize. Many people are very drawn to this type of contest.

Article Advertising When it comes to the internet, it is content, content, content. Many people or companies will offer free, keyword rich content to other sites on the contingency that it includes a link back to your website. This is a win, win endeavor because your content is attracting traffic to the site it is on and your link is visible so that traffic can click over to your site.

Uniform Advertising If you are promoting a company website, your URL should be on your employees’ uniforms if possible. This is a great way to provide “walking advertising” for your business and it does attract traffic. Make the site address legible (no fancy fonts), easy to read and somewhat understated so that it is not ostentatious

Promotional Items Place your website address on your promotional items. This is an inexpensive and quite easy way to advertise while it also serves as a daily reminder of your presence on the web. Coffee mugs, bumper stickers, pens, T-shirts and key chains are all great for this type of advertising.

Yellow Pages If you place an ad in the Yellow Pages of your telephone directory, make sure that you include the website address. This will draw targeted traffic to your site. If you include an interesting, but simple graphic or illustration and a snappy headline, your ad will be more eye-catching.

Company Vehicle If you have a company car, you can place a decal with your logo and URL on the side. This way, people will see it and may be inclined to visit your site. If you have trucks that deliver products, they would be optimum for advertising your web address.

Catalogs Catalogs are a great way for businesses to get information on their products or services in the hand of people who are interested in them. A phone number, preferably toll free, as well as the URL at the bottom of the catalog is highly recommended. Many people will read a catalog, and then place their order over the internet.

Costa Rica Land – The Rich Coast has an Educated Population by David Lovendahl

Costa Rica boasts a one of the highest literacy rates worldwide with 96% of its natives being educated at least through 11th grade. That’s undoubtedly thanks to the mandatory schooling for children. The Costa Rica government provides their education free of charge. The children are educated in many of the areas that are studied in Europe and North America–math, science, history, etc.–and are also taught English as their second language while continuing to master their native Spanish linguistics.

One main difference in the Costa Rican educational system is that schooling ends at 11th grade in most schools. However, there are select educational institutions that do teach courses through the 12th grade. Those that decide to continue with their education in Costa Rica have the option to pursue higher education at one of the local universities or elsewhere in the world.

The four main public universities in Costa Rica are la Universidad de Costa Rica, el Instituto de Tecnologico de Costa Rica, la Universidad Nacional Estatal a Distancia and la Universidad Nacional Autonoma. Each of the Costa Rica universities is designed to focus on specialized areas. Here’s a more detailed description of each facility:

La Universidad de Costa Rica La Universidad de Costa Rica, the largest higher education institution in the nation, is located on a vast and scenic piece of Costa Rica real estate in San Jose. It caters to approximately 35,000 students each year and has a diverse course offering. Students can focus their studies in fine arts, the sciences, social science, education, engineering, medicine and more. Graduate courses are also available.

Universidad Nacional Autonoma La Universidad Nacional Autonoma Costa Rica is located in the Heredia province of the nation. Some of the undergraduate coursework specializations include language, finance, plus Cultural Identity, Art & Technology. Postgraduate programs are also available.

Instituto de Tecnologico de Costa Rica El Instituto de Tecnologico de Costa Rica is a smaller institution. It is comprised of three regional campuses, each of which is situated on smaller plots of Costa Rica real estate. Still, each of the facilities has classrooms and well as extensive research laboratories for student use. The curricula at el Instituto de Tecnologico de Costa Rica is focused primarily on engineering specialties (biological, architectural, industrial design, etc.) but does offer some course work in other areas as well as graduate programs.

Universidad Nacional Estatal a Distancia (UNED) La Universidad Nacional Estatal a Distancia is primarily a correspondence learning university. Undergraduate courses at UNED include work in Education, Natural Sciences, Administration, and Social Sciences / Humanities. The school also offers about two-dozen masters / doctorate programs. Students who live in rural areas populate this school most often.

In addition to the four public universities, there are also a number of private higher learning institutions throughout the country that students can attend. The universities vary in purpose and thus the campuses are built on varying sizes of Costa Rica real estate. Some of the more notable private institutions include la Universidad Cato´lica de Costa Rica, Universidad Auto´noma de Centroame´rica, Instituto Centroamericano de Administracion de Empresas, and the United Nations University for Peace.
